Tiso Foundation Master’s Scholarship

The Tiso Foundation Master’s Scholarship is a prestigious award designed to bridge the gap between undergraduate success and high-level expertise. Established in 2015, this initiative empowers academically exceptional black youth to pursue postgraduate excellence and contribute to the intellectual capital of South Africa.

Redefining the Future Through Research

Our scholarship moves beyond simple funding; it is an investment in human capital and national development. We aim to:

Support scholars whose work addresses the complex socio-economic challenges facing South Africa.

Nurture visionary leaders who combine academic rigor with a commitment to national progress.

Provide the resources for graduates to produce meaningful insights that inform policy, industry, and community upliftment.

Selection Criteria

We invite applications from South African citizens who demonstrate both academic brilliance and leadership potential.

Eligibility: Black, Coloured, or Indian citizens aged 18–35.

Academic Background: Must have successfully completed an Honours or BTech degree.

Must be currently unemployed and pursuing full-time study.

Admission: Must hold provisional acceptance for a Master’s programme at an accredited South African university.

By supporting advanced postgraduate study, the Tiso Foundation ensures that South Africa’s brightest minds have the platform to conduct research that changes lives.
