people back home to get to where I am,
I have to be an example."

Bettering our Country by starting with the Youth

Bettering our Country by starting with the Youth

We live in a country plagued by many, serious problems; a lot of which will take a lifetime to come to a resolution. For a place and culture with a history as vibrant and turbulent as ours, it really isn’t a surprise.

For many of our nation’s people, who have a deep and warranted concern about the direction of our futures; the time to ponder accountability has come to an end, and the time for searching for solutions is now. It can, however, be difficult to know where to start when trying to untangle the knots. So, as it is in most cases, the best place to start, would be at the bottom.

It is only through the upliftment, empowerment and the education of our country’s youth, that it will slowly hear the scars wrought by its past, over time.

Empowerment and Upliftment through Education

Education is the key to resolving a great deal of South Africa’s problems. While it would not present a quick fix to our troubles, it will ensure that the future of our country is nurtured by those with the skills and understanding to transform South Africa in terms of its economy, opportunities, productivity and development. By supplying the youth with higher skills, poverty, corruption and job shortages could someday be a thing of the past.

Rectifying the Mindset of our Fathers

One of the ugliest stains left behind by our countries history lingers in the mindset of every one of its citizens; regardless of race, class, gender or religion. The undertones of the cultural divides left behind after apartheid are not removed easily, and even less so when it can thrive in ignorance. The only way to combat this is through education and the provision of opportunities that are equally supplied regardless of demographics, which are best provided through education.

Giving the Youth the Skills to develop our Country

There will always be a demand for skills that can be put to use developing infrastructure, bettering the community, as well as providing further education and training. These skills are the backbone of any nation, which makes them crucial to the future development and success of the country as a whole. Making training courses on those that see to the upliftment of the country available. Especially in low-income areas, is one of the best ways to see to a brighter future.

The Tiso Foundation: Funding Community Upliftment through Education

The trouble with providing higher training and education is of course funding. Creating a high-quality course, employing lecturers and evaluating progress is costly; which in the current state of things, puts the acquisition of higher skills out of reach to the majority of South Africans. It is through organisations such as the Tiso Foundation that these courses can be provided to those who are interested in bettering themselves yet cannot afford to do so in their current position.

They are encouraging positive youth development to ensure a brighter future for us all.
